Pls read poem - "Tomboy"?

Little faery dancer

Skipping down the hill,

Carefree little vagabond,

You are never still.

Sneakers I have bought you

So you may be shod

Yet everywhere I find a trace

Of where bare feet have trod.

Dresses I have given you

In bright and cleanly hue

But since you learned to climb a tree

You've ruined quite a few.

You leave your dollies on the shelf

And scorn your dainty things

To chase an insect crawling by

Or one that flies on wings.

Lovingly I wash your face -

Admire your tender skin,

But when you come inside from play

I hate to let you in!

Two grubby hands that pat my face

A berry-stained mouth to kiss

Two wiry arms around my neck -

I'd trade the world for this.

Pls read poem - "Tomboy"?
Disclaimer: I 'know' almost nothing about poetry.

I smiled all the way through this, remembering a granddaughter.

Thank you.

What is the strangest thing you have done in your sleep?

When I was about 13, I was sleeping over at my friends house.

Her bedroom was in the basement so her dad (a policeman) had screwed on the screens. Somehow, I climbed out the window and woke up at about 3 AM standing in their garden, shivering.

I honestly didn't know how I had arrived there. I was in my very short nightie and barefeet, there was frost on the grass I remember. I wandered around trying to figure out how I got there.

When walked around the house I noticed her screen leaning against the outer wall. So I realised what I had done. I climbed back in and went to bed. She shared a bedroom with her little sister, who was sleeping over at someones house, so I was sleeping in her bed. The next morning, I woke up wearing one of her little sister's sweatshirts!! I could hardly get it off - don't know how I even got it on without some grease and a shoe horn!!

What weird things have you done?

What is the strangest thing you have done in your sleep?
As a child I talked in my sleep. This wouldn't be so strange except that for some reason I would recite my mother's favourite recipes continually until she would come and gently wake me.

Then a few months ago I put the garbage bin out in my sleep. Unfortunately, it wasn't garbage night. I also didn't leave it roadside, but instead delivered it to my neighbour's door. I returned home to bed and had no idea what I had done until my neighbour brought my bin home. He said he had watched me do it from his bedroom window, but hadn't wanted to disturb me. A little embarrassing, but at least I had worn pajamas that night!!

One night I got out of bed and went into the kitchen where my parents were playing cards. I said, "Hi Mom! Hi Dad", walked around the table 3 times and went back to bed.

Have you ever dreamed you broke your leg and could actually feel the pain to wake up and discover you really have a pain there?

Reply:You were sleepwalking. I also was a sleepwalker as a kid. One night I went into my parents' room. My mom woke up and saw me standing by her dresser. She asked me what time it was (not knowing I was still asleep). I took an antique clock off the dresser and walked over to her bed where I put the clock on the pillow next to her head. Then I turned around and went back to my own bed.

Sleepwalkers don't usually know that they walked during the night. When this happens it's called "sleep amnesia". Usually they'll get pretty defensive and even angry if you tell them about it. It's better not to mention it because sometimes they feel guilt, embarrassment or humiliation at doing something everyone else knew about, but they didn't.

Reply:Wow, if you're being serious, that is extremely weird, lol... As for me, I can't say much ever happened to me in my sleep, except that I fell off of a double bed twice as a kid in my sleep, which is really not all that weird, but still makes me wonder how I managed that considering all the space I had.

What do u think of my story? its unfinished though...?

Hi, my name is Indiana Opal Wingette III. I was born on June 15th, 1993. I live in a small little town in Louisiana. That town’s name is New Orleans. A little over a year ago, as you already may know, Hurricane Katrina came soaring through our city and destroyed pretty much everything. She also killed my family. Every single person I ever met in my family. I am the only Wingette member alive in America. Now I want to tell you my story.

I grew up in a poor family. My mother, Julliette, my aunt, Marre, my uncle, George, my grandfather, Karr, my two older sisters, Ana and Rita, all lived together in a tiny house in the middle of New Orleans. My father passed away before I was born. My other aunt, Saiah, and my other uncle, Tamicco, along with my four cousins, Joanne, Olivya, Marcus, and Miina live right next to us. We see them all the time. I only have a few friends here. I am home schooled, and I am not very social and I don’t get out much. All of my friends are people I met just around the neighborhood. My best friend is Jill. I’ve know her since I was three years old. We have a lot of fun together. She is also home schooled, so she doesn’t have many friends either. My other friend is Isaiah. He is very nice and caring, but I don’t see him much. His father is very rich and he goes on business trips a lot with Isaiah. That’s just about it. I do not know many people here. But I am about to meet a new friend. All of New Orleans is about to meet a new friend. Her name is Katrina.

As I mentioned before, we are a poor family with little belongings. My mother works as a home-cleaner in the neighborhood. She gets phone calls and schedules appointments with local residents and cleans their homes. She gets paid very little. My uncle George works at a shoe factory. He puts the plastic ends of shoe laces on. He too does not get paid much. My older sister Ana is a cashier at a local juice stop. Once again, she gets paid very little too. We own one car, a small, old-model Volkswagen Beetle. It used to belong to my father. Now Rita drives it to college. She is very smart. She has a 3.86 G.P.A. Ana takes the bus to get around. Mother walks to the homes she needs to clean. Uncle George also takes the bus to get to work. The only electrical or electronic device in our home is a telephone. It is very old and it is falling apart. We do not have a T.V., a radio, or a computer, so we aren’t always aware of the latest news.

It was a cool, breezy Saturday afternoon and Isaiah was home. So was I. I was restless and bored, so I walked over to Isaiah’s house. I knocked on the door, and Isaiah opened it up.

“Hi Isaiah, want to go play at the park? The weather’s great!” I asked him.

“Go to the park!? Are you crazy! Katrina is coming! Haven’t you heard? My whole family is packing up right now and we’re almost ready to evacuate!

“Katrina? Who’s Katrina? Why do you have to evacuate? What’s going on?” I said.

“You haven’t heard! Katrina, Hurricane Katrina! She’s on her way! She’s supposed to be a level 5 hurricane! You better let you’re folks know and start evacuating! Let Jill know too!” Isaiah said.

“Oh thank you! Thanks so much for letting me know! I’ll tell Jill!” I said, very worried.

I rushed to Jill’s house to tell her, but no one was home. I ran back home and told everyone at home. They called aunt Saiah’s house and told them. We all started to pack right away. Rita was at college with the car, so we took the bus to get us to the college. As soon as we got there, we spent quite a while looking for Rita. We had no idea where she was. We finally found her, and we headed straight to the car. Aunt Saiah and her crew were following us in there car. We began going north, but before we even made it onto the highway, the blue sky turned gray and wind blew as powerful as it has ever been before. We all new it. Katrina was here. Rita drove as fast as she could away from the hurricane. I looked back for aunt Saiah and everyone who was with her. But she wasn’t there. Not her car, not her, and no one else who was with her. There was no sign of her at all. We have no clue where they were or where they went. It was devastating to watch the roofs get blown of house and to watch people drown in the water that Katrina brought. I guess our new friend Katrina wasn’t so nice after all. The wind blew faster and harder and water grew higher and spread quicker. I blinked for a split second. The moment I opened my eyes, I was underneath Katrina’s ocean of water. I tried to help everyone get out of the car and swim upward, but I was too late. Other cars falling from nowhere had squished my entire family except for me and Ana. They were dead. Ana and I were scared to death and we didn’t know what to do. We swam up to the surface but the water kept piling up so we had to keep swimming upward. We finally found a tall hill that wasn’t surrounded by water. We quickly climbed to the top and began looking for aunt Saiah and every other member in our family who wasn’t dead. We had to be fast because the water was coming up fast. Ana looked down, and water covered her ankles. Unfortunately for her, she was on the lower part of the hill, so water covered her quicker than it covered me. I tried to help her, but she drowned in the water before I even got to her. She fell down into Katrina’s ocean, and died. It was only me.

The winds slightly slowed down, but it didn’t make much of a difference. I dove into the water and began to swim. I was determined to find aunt Saiah and the rest of my family. They had a bright orange car, so it was easy to spot. I looked around for about forty-five minutes in the intense storm. I didn’t find them, but I found Jill. I was so thankful to see her. I spotted another tall hill not completely covered with water yet, so Jill and I went there.

“Where were you when the storm came? I tried knocking on your door to warn you.” I asked her.

“My mother and I were out grocery shopping. We were in the store when the storm hit.”

“Where is she now?” I asked.

“I don’t know. I lost her ---.”

Jill was cut off by somebody. By Katrina.

What do u think of my story? its unfinished though...?
i'm so srry! i'm crying right now. this is a beautiful story! i hope u really get it published, this is terrific. it makes people really understand wat happened in katrina, u made me understand much better. i am going to pray for u and ur deceased friends and family every night! i hope u have a succesful life
Reply:Very interesting story. Very interesting style of writing. It's not clear to me whether or not it's true %26amp; I guess that's a compliment to your ability to put concepts into words.

If it IS true, I'm very very sorry. There are no words to express the sadness I have for what happened to all those who were crushed by Katrina.

May G-d bless you and all who suffered there.
Reply:I was def in Katrina, and as an evacuee, I know exactly what that's about. Work on the informal language a bit. But overall, good concept.

A beautiful boy?

The boy that used to make her smile,

Now makes her cry, and cry for a while.

She'd loved him before she'd even known his name.

And once she got to know him, her heart went insane!

The first day of school, some faces were new.

She didn't notice his until weeks passed, a few,

But after she saw the beauty in his eyes,

She'd never known they could make her cry.

That love she felt was not to be explained,

For, even she, couldn't give it a name.

She wondered if he could feel it too.

The way they were, the way they knew.

Unfortunately, this was not true.

This one way love was all she knew.

He didn't like her nearly as much,

And for this reason, she feared his touch…

She cried all day, yet found the hope,

To try and climb the "broken heart" rope.

Just as she was nearing the top,

Her shoe slipped, and she fell of.

She cried again, just wondering why,

Such a beautiful boy, with beautiful eyes,

Could make such a pretty girl cry...

How high in the rankings will Notre Dame climb before their reality checks agains USC and in their bowl game?

Once again because they started the season as the most over rated team in america. . .Notre Dame is poised to make a run into the top 5. They are lucky to have only one loss but really should have two. They have beaten nobody in the top 25 and had their butts handed to them by Michigan (Hail to the Victors). Now. . . for the next several weeks their schudule looks like that of St. Mary's School for wayward boys! I believe they play Who R U, Whatsa Matter U, Cupcake U, and Dubba U! I'm sure they will beat all these sacrificial lambs and rise undeservedly in the rankings once again! Eventually they will go to USC and be lambasted and then get hammered in a bowl game. The question is. . . how high will they rise before they play some real teams again. . . . They already rose to #2 without doing anything but lace up their shoes!!! If the rankings didn't come out until octover 1st. . . . would anybody really even rank them in the top 30?

How high in the rankings will Notre Dame climb before their reality checks agains USC and in their bowl game?
My guess if they win out from here until the USC game they will be ranked in the Top 6.
Reply:Obviously you havent been paying attention to college football. Notre Dame has played some really good football. They only have and only should have one loss. That loss is to a really good Michigan team who is probably going to go undefeated until they reach the OSU game. The near loss to Michigan St. showed what type of team they are not how vulnerable they are. And lets see who Michigan has played or is going to play this year: Vandy, C. Mich., Minn., N'westrn, Ball St., and Indiana. Wow! Better bring their A game for those teams. And about being lambasted at USC? USC is one of those overranked teams that everybody is talking about. IF and thats a big if they make it through their schedule undefeated (doubtful) Notre Dame will have no problem getting revenge from last year. They almost lost to Washington St. give me a break. And they didnt come from 16 points down in the 4th Q so I didnt look spectacular by any means. Should Notre Dame be ranked in the top 3 by the end of the year, well maybe maybe not but definately in the top 5.
Reply:First of all, they have beaten a Top 25 team- Georgia Tech is ranked #24 on the AP poll and will likely be ranked higher since they beat Virginia Tech. Second, USC barely squeaked out a win over Washington St.! Notre Dame will beat them! And third, Notre Dame is still #1 in my book. I want to play Ohio St. badly, because I know the Irish can take them!
Reply:MSU handed them a win on a silver platter, so people should remember it, but won't, since it's Notre Dame.

They'll be about 7 or so when they head to USC to get demolished (Jarrett will be back by then and Notre Dame's secondary is still a sieve).

What horror film has a tiny green monster with swords for teeth?

The film I'm looking for I watched in the 80's as a child. What I can remember is that a little green monster with swords for teeth jams a shoe under the door so the parents can't get in, and climbs up a little girl's bed only to be slapped onto a record turntable by a stray cat, and flung into a fan and killed. The father finally enters and finds a tiny little sword in the carpet. I imagine that was the end of the movie, but I can't remember any of the rest. Thanks!

What horror film has a tiny green monster with swords for teeth?
It's a segment called "The General" from the movie Cat's Eye.
