Good Climbing shoe and harness brands?

As a beginner i would like some advice as to decent brands for shoes and harnesses. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks !

Both shoe and harness brands are very fit specific - some brands will fit some people and not others. It is very important to try them on to see if they fit your body type correctly.





Shoes - my favorite is La Sportiva, better for wider feet. Also look at Boreal, 5.10, Red Chili





Harnesses - my favorite is Black Diamond. Also look at Petzl, Metolius, Singing Rock

Reply:Hello , some of the best shoes would be Red Chili, Scarpa, Five Ten, or Mad Rock. shop around for good deals and make sure the size that you require definately fits you. Best harnesses Wild Country, Petzl, Black Diamond, DMM. You can get a female or male harness, get the one that suits you best. There is much equipment available , but you have to know what type of climbing is best for you. Whether its bouldering , indoor, outdoor sports, or alpine, rock , snow or ice. Choose your equipment carefully to suit the type of climbing you are doing. Best of luck and reach those heights.
Reply:The best mix between quality and price would be the brand Five ten. I would reccomend a nuetral shoe something that is comfortable but fits tight. The five ten spire is a great shoe and will last you a very long time. make sure to get a half size smaller because they are leather and will stretch. Other brands to look into Scarpa, Acopa, La Sportiva. all three are very high quality shoes and usually are not cheap. Acopa is cool they use a natural rubber made from cactus, and they are my favorite at the moment. be careful with the company Mad Rock they have great deals on prices but the quality is not that great. Make sure you fit the shoes snugg without a sock. and for harnesses 3 top brands in my mind are Black diamond, Arcteryx, and metolious. I would recommend getting a Black diamond starter pack. it will come with chalk, chalk bag, belay device, locking carabiner, and a harness usually like 130 bucks not bad for quality gear. Between a pair of shoes and the starter kit you would be set for a while. Arcteryx is the best brand in my mind but you will pay a lot for it its not cheap at all. And metolious makes high quality gear as well. i could talk about this stuff forever i hope this helped
